Judgment is the key to true leadership. A leader's most important role is making good judgment calls in three domains: key people, strategy and crisis. Great leaders have a high percentage of good judgment calls; they are only good if the execution is successful.
The second most important role is to develop other leaders who can make good judgment calls. Leaders are said to have a good judgment when they repeatedly make judgment calls that turn out well. And these calls often turn out well because they have mastered a complex process that unfolds in several in several dimensions.
Why do some organisations consistently win in the marketplace, while others struggle from crisis to crisis? The answer is LEADERSHIP. Winning organisations have good leaders who know how to make smart decisions and implement them quickly and they develop others to be leaders as well.
