Medical Issues To Be Debated At UBD
By Ahmed Shaheeb

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Moot court will be held at the Senate Room of UBD's Chancellor Hall tomorrow (April 9) at 2pm.
Medical students from the Institute of Medicine, UBD, will be arguing controversial cases with medical and ethicolegal implications in a courtroom setting before Judge Datin Paduka Hjh Hayati binti Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Paduka Hj Mohd Salleh.
The mock court will follow all of the normal practices and procedures adopted by the Brunei High Court.
The medical issues, which will be raised tomorrow, will have far-reaching implications beyond the clinic and ward. These issues influence all of us in some form or another. The cases will be fictional but the topics raised are real, contemporary and complex.
UBD's Institute of Medicine is a relatively new institute that has adopted a very modern method of teaching and learning. Trainee doctors are taught not only to understand the workings of the human body, but also to understand the ethical and social aspects of their profession.
